Administration and Office Staff
Cindy Price-Assistant Principal
I was born in Idaho to a submarine sailor and his young wife and spent my childhood moving all over the country and other parts of the world. I had the privilege of attending a variety of schools and experiencing many different cultures including London, England; Charleston, South Carolina; Key West, Florida; San Diego, California; and of course colorful Colorado. My husband of 31 years, and I are the proud parents of 4 children including a set of twin boys, one of which is serving in the Air Force. We also have 2 grandchildren that light up our life! All of this is quite amazing given that I am only 29 years old! Over my years as an educator I have had the opportunity to work in some interesting places including 5 years at a Juvenile Detention Center. I have always believed that given the right tools anyone can be successful. I am thrilled to be part of the Stuart Middle School staff and truly love working with each and every one of our students. |
Ty Gordon-Dean of Students
I am proud to be part of Otho E. Stuart Middle School for my fifth year. Previous to becoming the Dean of Students and Athletic Director here at Stuart, I was a Physical Education and Health teacher. I am a native of Colorado but attended school in Nebraska at Concordia University where I was able to play football. After attending school in Nebraska I decided to transfer home to finish my schooling at Metro State University earning a degree in Human Performance and Sports. Outside of school I enjoy coaching the track team here at Stuart, along with football at Brighton High School. When I am not busy with work or coaching I enjoy spending time with my wife, hunting, fishing, camping, playing with our dogs, going to sporting events, and spending time with my family and friends. |
Heather Symons-Psychologist
I was born and raised in “poe dunk” North Dakota. We moved around a few times but always from one small town to the next. I grew up with 2 sisters, a brother and parents who will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary next year. During high school I knew I wanted to work with kids and help in some capacity, I just didn’t know exactly what route to take. I eventually decided on education and graduated from Minot State University in North Dakota double majoring in elementary education and deaf education. I completed all of my course requirements in ND but arranged to do my student teaching in Adams 12 school district at Mountain View Elementary. It was during this time that I did a lot of reflection about my strengths and how I could help students the way I wanted to help them. I then decided to continue my education and enrolled in the School Psychology program at UNC. I have now been a school psychologist for 11 years (9 of which have been spent in the 27J school district). What I love about my job is the ability to help students in their daily struggles. Let’s face it being in middle school is tough, but we all survived…somehow! Students this age are trying to figure out who they are, what they like, and where they belong. I love to be a safe place for them to fall when things in their world aren’t going smoothly. They need to know that someone cares and I love being that “someone” for kids. Since moving to Colorado 13 years ago, my husband and I have added 4 amazing children to our family (3 daughters and a son). Meryk is an 8 year old social butterfly and is in the 3rd grade at Bromley East Charter School. Jaedyn is our 6 year old, laid back, independent child in 1st grade also at BECS. Mason is 4, our only boy, and is extremely energetic. He attends preschool at Zion Lutheran this year. Last but not least, Emersyn is our headstrong 2 year-old and has made it very certain that she will be the last addition to the Symons family (note the headstrong comment). Our first babies were Jaxy and Sonic, our 11 year old yellow labs. Moving to Colorado has proven to be such a great choice for us and we don’t intend to leave. We still get to enjoy the 4 seasons but they aren’t as extreme as the North Dakota winters! |
Scott Major-Counselor
This is my third year here at Stuart Middle School. I grew up in Colorado Springs and then went to school at Colorado Christian University for a degree in psychology. I received my master’s in school counseling from the University of Phoenix. Prior to working as a school counselor, I was a paraprofessional at a middle school in Jeffco. I have worked with middle school kids in a variety of settings for over 10 years. I love working with middle school kids and they teach me a lot every day. Middle school is such a unique time of life with lots of changes and challenges and I love having the opportunity to help kids succeed as they grow into young adults. Some things I enjoy outside of Stuart are disc golf, photography, and baseball (go Rockies!). I like to eat anything with barbecue sauce on it. I am SCUBA certified although I don’t get a chance to go diving often. I volunteer as a middle school Young Life leader and I also volunteer at a rehabilitation facility for injured birds of prey. Maybe that's why I love being a Stuart Raptor! |
Dawn Lewallen-Teacher Librarian
Here’s a little (well, maybe more than a little … it has been said I have a tendency to be quite verbose J) information about me. In 1991, I graduated from the University of Southern Colorado (currently known as Colorado State University of Pueblo … yes, there is a bit of bitterness in that statement … I loved USC … *sob*) with a Bachelor of Arts in English. My passion for education guided me to the Lesley University’s graduate program where I received my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with specialization in Literacy. I then attended Wayne State University via their on-line program and obtained my Masters in Library and Information Science. You may notice I LOVE attending school and learning new things … have ever since kindergarten all those many years ago! I have twenty years of experience in middle and high school education, adore working with children and teenagers, and am an avid reader of young adult literature (good trait for a middle school librarian, huh?). Beyond the school environment my husband of twenty-one years and I have a beautiful nine-year-old daughter and complete our household with two cats and two dogs. We all love the mountains, watching The Voice, and traveling! I was born in Alaska and lived in New Jersey, Wisconsin, and Florida prior to making Colorado my home. My dream is for our library to become a major hub of literacy, information, and social gatherings. If you have any ideas on how to assist me in making this dream a reality, I would love to hear from you! |

Kim Thoms-Office Para
I am married with one 16 year old daughter who attends PVHS. I was born and raised in Iowa with most of my family still there and I’m the youngest out of six kids so I have lots of nieces and nephews and have since I was nine! After my high school graduation, I moved to Santa Barbara, CA where I lived with my sister and her family for two years while attending Santa Barbara City College and working at a resort. In the winter of 1992, I, along with several friends, moved to Utah to work at Sundance Ski Resort. After six years at Sundance I resigned to start our family. We moved to Colorado in the Spring of 2000 to be closer to my husband’s family and raise our daughter. Since moving to Colorado, I worked with United Airlines for a few years until being laid off which led me to a career with 27J School District. I worked at Thimmig Elementary for almost nine years and then moved over to Stuart. I enjoy cooking, baking, photography and traveling. We spend most of our time with our daughter traveling from one softball game to the next and love every minute of it. |
