Welcome to Science. This is my Fifth year teaching at Stuart Middle School and I couldn't be happier to be back. As far as my education goes, I received a BS in Biology from Regis University and my teaching certificate from Metro State University. Growing up in the beautiful state of Florida, the activities that I enjoy participating in outside of school are very outdoors oriented. I spend the majority of my free time coaching swimming, scuba diving, playing tennis, fishing and and spending time with my wife. I am looking forward to a great year ahead of us. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with questions at any time. |

I was born in Oxnard California but was raised in Denver Colorado from the time I was 4 years old. I grew up in Littleton Colorad0, went to John F. Kennedy High School then continued my education at Metropolitan State College of Denver and graduated with a BS in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Right after I graduated college I worked in a virus lab at the University Hospital and six months later had my beautiful daughter. After working there for 2 years I moved to Rochester New York and worked in the microbiology department while studying at St. John Fisher College, where I earned a Masters in secondary education Math, Science and Technology. After teaching for 2 years in the city of Rochester I missed home so much that I got a teaching job at Weld Central Junior/Senior high school which I stayed for 3 years then got offered a position on the leadership team to open Otho E. Stuart Middle School. While teaching is not only my job it is a passion of mine and I continue to strive to be the best teacher I can be by being reflective and learning from not only my mistakes but from my students. I hope to instill in my students that great learning can come from seeking out answers, making mistakes and learning from them. My other joys in my life are snowboarding, softball and the Denver Broncos. I welcome all of you to my classroom and look forward to continuing to grow as a teacher, create meaningful relationships with my students and make the learning process rewarding. |

A small town in Iowa is where I am from. It was a great place to grow up. I was made of two things back then; the love of science and basketball. I am not so sure I completely understood what science was, but I loved making potion, taking things apart, building elaborate forts and starting things on fire with a magnifying glass. Yes, I was a trouble maker in class; like doing things to see if classroom fish could swim through oil, if toilet paper could stick to the wall and if locker combinations could be reset. I always had way more questions than answers and my inquisitive mind continually found me in GREAT trouble. Luckily, my teachers believed in me and tenderly guided me through some very tough times in my life. My second love, basketball, allowed me to establish the discipline I needed to control my mind and actions. I attended my first four year college in Iowa on a full basketball scholarship. While visiting my mother in Houston during a college summer vacation I met my husband. I have been married almost 30 years and I have 4 amazing kids, one daughter-in-law, one son-in-law, a 2 year old grandson, and a grandchild on the way.( It’s a girl) Coming from a violent-broken home I never though family could be so fulfilling. I have achieved a BA in Exercise Sport Science, a Teacher Licenses, a MA in Educational Council, a MA in Curriculum Instruction with an emphasis in science, an elementary endorsement, and have completed all the course work for a PhD. Pushing myself to be my best is what I do. I love science, I love learning and most of all I love the underdog. I was the child unseen, broken, and overlooked because of the circumstance I dwelled in. For this reason is why I teach; to see the unseen, to repair the broken and to empower the hope of perseverance, but most of all to spread the love of science. I am privilege to teach your child and I can not wait for what lies ahead! |

Born and raised in New York State, I grew up in Poughkeepsie and graduated from Binghamton University with a Bachelor’s degree in Physics. I initially set out to become an audio engineer because of my interest in music, but fell in love with the science I learned along the way. I haven’t fully abandoned the music, however, as I still play guitar and sing as a hobby. I moved to Colorado shortly after graduating from college and attended CU Boulder earning my Master’s in Instruction and Curriculum, with a specific focus in secondary science education. It was here that I met my amazing husband, worked as a Taekwondo Instructor and played Ultimate Frisbee for Colorado Kali. If you don’t know what Ultimate Frisbee is, I suggest you check it out – don’t confuse it with Disc Golf or a game for dogs. In 2009 Otho E. Stuart opened, and I began my teaching career. Of all the hobbies and interests I’ve encountered through my life, my passion for teaching and learning surmounts them all. Other than spending time with my husband and daughter, there is nothing I love more than watching students grow and learn over the course of the school year. |
